Father Jerome Masinzo has lived in Rwanda his entire life. He was a Priest in the Butare Diocese of Rwanda when the genocide started in 1994. At that time he was targeted for extermination by the government of Rwanda. He went into hiding and spent 2 months in a small attic space above the rectory in Butare. He managed to survive but lost most of his family that year. Despite these hardships Father Jerome went on to become a Roman Catholic Priest in Rwanda. He now works in the parish of Rugango. He is known nationwide for his devotion to his parish and his diocese.
